As the primary representatives of Oglethorpe University’s alumni body, the Alumni Board works closely with the alumni office to achieve the association’s goal of establishing and encouraging an active and involved alumni network. The purpose of this network is to build mutually beneficial relationships between alumni, students, and the university, demonstrating that the student experience is just the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Oglethorpe.

The Alumni Board has six committees which include current Alumni Board members and alumni representatives not on the board.
The Advancement Committee will encourage alumni support for the annual Oglethorpe Fund Drive, assist in the recruitment of class agents, offer support for OU students involved in the annual phonathon and student philanthropy programs.
The Events Committee will be responsible for organizing and planning Alumni Weekend in conjunction with the OU Alumni Relations staff. The committee shall also oversee special alumni projects requested by the OU Alumni Relations Office.
Awards, Recognition, and Nominations Committee
The Awards, Recognition, and Nomination Committee will be responsible for the development and presentation of a slate of nominees to fill vacancies on the Alumni Board. This committee is also responsible for the nomination and selection process for annual awards given by the Association (e.g., School Bell, Spirit of Oglethorpe, Talmage, and Young Alumni).
Career Services Committee
The Career Services Committee will be responsible for coordinating with the Alumni Relations Office and the Career Services office at the University for the purpose of assisting students in their career explorations. This includes such activities as bringing alumni back to campus to speak to classes, mock interview training and participating in panel discussions. This committee will be involved in planning professional development and networking activities for alumni.
In coordination with the OU Public Relations Office, the Communications Committee provides expertise, guidance, and planning to strengthen the communication to alumni and to promote alumni activities and events. Committee members will contribute regular articles to OU alumni-related publications such as the Carillon magazine and the OU blog.
The Admission Committee will work with the Enrollment Office to offer assistance in recruiting new students, supply alumni volunteers for key admission events including JEO Scholarship Weekend, College Fairs and other activities as needed.
